Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody Assay (tTG)
Celiac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis, the two recognized forms of gluten sensitive enteropathy [disease of the intestinal tract](GSE) are shown by chronic inflammation on the intestinal mucous membranes and flattening of the membranous cellular tissue lining or positive hardening or death of the soft long hairs of the intestinal tract. Intolerance to gluten, the protein of wheat, rye and barley causes GSE.
Patients with celiac disease may suffer other diverse side effects or they may not have any symptoms. Note: Result turnaround times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
