Microalbumin, Random Urine With Creatinine
Fasting Required: No

Specimen: Urine

Results: 2-3 Business Days

Description: The body excretes creatinine at a steady rate, so comparing the ratio of albumin with creatinine in the same urine specimen helps determine if the body is excreting albumin at an increased rate. In most healthy people, the kidneys prevent albumin and other proteins from entering the urine. However, if kidneys are damaged they start to allow albumin to pass from the blood into the urine.

Methodology: Turbidimetric

Note: Exercise within 24 hours, infection, fever, congestive heart failure, marked hyperglycemia, and marked hypertension may elevate urinary albumin excretion over baseline values.

Note: Result turnaround times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
