Description: This test is mainly ordered to help discern between the different types of anemia and to determine whether the amount of erythropoietin produced is suitable for the level of anemia present. It is usually ordered following abnormal findings on a complete blood count (CBC). Erythropoietin is ordered to help determine if an insufficiency of the hormone may be causing and/or exacerbating the anemia.

Note: Result turnaround times are an estimate and are not guaranteed. Our reference lab may need additional time due to weather, holidays, confirmation/repeat testing, or equipment maintenance.
